Small Bathroom Vanities Can Be Subtle or Showy, Whatever Your Home Needs
63If you've got a bathroom to update, one of the easiest ways to do this without doing much work at all is to replace the small bathroom vanity. Small bathroom vanities come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and models. Choosing the right one for your particular bathroom is going to make all the difference.
Do some research first
Doing research on the Internet or looking through design magazine, books or watching television shows that deal with this subject will give you some ideas as to what you should look for in your small bathroom vanity.
Do you want to go simple, or ornate?
Depending on the current style of your bathroom and your tastes, you can choose a modern bathroom vanity that's simple and sleek or a little bit more elaborate. If you are redoing your entire bathroom, of course, you can pretty much start from scratch. However, if you are simply replacing the bathroom vanity and doing nothing more at the moment, you're going to want to keep your current bathroom's style and color scheme in mind.
Modern Looks
Even a small bathroom vanity can have plenty of room, and today's models opt for space-saving designs that still offer plenty of storage room and are big on style, too.
Maximizing limited space
One of the things your small bathroom vanity can do for you is to maximize your storage space. Because the small bathroom vanity cabinet offers a significant amount of storage underneath your sink hidden from view, you're not going to take up any more floor space than you would if you simply use a pedestal sink, but you give yourself a lot of storage space even so; because it's hidden from view, the bathroom space overall is also going to look neater. Think about this for a minute. If your small bathroom has no storage space in it at present, simply adding a small bathroom vanity can give you at least several cubic feet of storage space that you don't have now without taking up valuable space you might need for other things (even things like simply moving around).
The vanity isn't just about the storage space, though
It's about more than just storage space, though. You can freshen up the look of your small bathroom with the new countertops, faucets, and sink you may purchase with your new vanity. If you're opting for a new toilet, too, choose a space-saving model that's going to open up the floor space even more and therefore maximize your storage space.
Wood, or another material?
Today's bathroom vanities are made of a variety of materials, and they are constructed so that they can stand up to the warping that can happen in a steamy bathroom. Most often, they're made of something called medium density fiberboard, which has been made so that it's "splash proof" and therefore can stand up to some water. However, many people still opt for real wood vanities, which can be sealed so that they, too, resist water damage. Still other vanity unit can be made of stone, which are truly durable and will last for a long time with very little wear and tear. They are more expensive than either wood or medium density fiberboard, of course, but you get durability and good looks for years to come in exchange for the extra cost.
Custom, or premade?
If you have a little bit more money, you might opt for a customized small bathroom vanity as opposed to a premade one. Which you choose really depends on your budget, your desires and your needs.
