Memory Foam Mattress Maintenance
84If you have recently purchased a memory foam mattress or you are thinking about how well a foam bed might suit you, you will find that one important thing that you need to be aware of is how to take care of it. Like any other product, a foam bed is something that does require a certain amount of care and the better you take care f it, the longer you will be able to use it. Your memory foam mattress is a product that help you get a restful night's sleep, so take some time and consider how you are going to make it last. This is something that can make a huge difference to your enjoyment of the mattress itself.
The fortunate thing is that memory foam mattresses are fairly easy to care for. Once you have the hang of them and once you have a few details in mind, you are going to be able to clean your foam mattress and to keep it in good shape for years. The first issue that you are likely to run into is the smell of the mattress itself. When you first get your foam mattress, you might notice a rather chemical smell, perhaps one that smells slightly of plastic. In many ways, this is just like the smell of a new car. It will go away in time, but you can help it lose the chemical smell more quickly by letting it stand for a few days before you put bedding on it.
When you are dealing with stains, you will find that memory foam is very easy to deal with. Interestingly enough, this material does not absorb liquid the way that conventional mattresses do. Instead, you will most likely be able to deal with the stains very effectively simply by keeping a few things in mind. The first thing to look into is the warranty that you got with the mattress. If it has not expired, you might be able to send the mattress in for stain removal. Also remember, though, that the longer a stain stays on the mattress, the harder it is going to be remove. Because of this, immediate action is key when you are looking at how to move forward.
If you have spilled something on the mattress, you will often find that you can simply wipe it up. Use a soft cloth and consider wiping it rather than blotting it, which can leave a deeper stain that you might have had originally. Wash the area by hand with warm water and if necessary, use a mild detergent. Make sure that you avoid using bleach and after that, you can rinse the area off gently and then if at all possible, you can wring it out. Then simply allow the area to air dry before you put linens over it again.
When you are thinking about dealing with a memory foam mattress, you will find that it might something that yellows over time. Most new memory foam mattresses will generally start by being white or cream, but as time goes on, it can go to a light brown. This is not a matter of staining, but merely of the memory foam itself oxidizing. Think about apples turning brown or metal tarnishing. The quality of your memory foam is not going to be affected by the color, but there are a few things to keep in mind. If you want to make sure that your foam mattress does not brown too quickly, make sure that you keep it out of the sunlight. This is why many people prefer mattress covers, which will keep their mattress looking crisp, but they are not always necessary. You can simply make sure that your mattress stays covered with linens or with bedspreads.
Take some time and think about how convenient a foam mattress is going to be. You will find that they can easily be cut if you are looking to resize them for a smaller room! Are you ready for a better way to sleep and are you tired of a mattress that does not support you where you need to be supported? There are many benefits of memory foam when you are looking at mattresses, and at the end of the day, you will find that you are in a place where you could stand to benefit a great deal!
