69When you want to make sure that your bed looks like new no matter how long you have had it, you will find that it is time for you to learn how to treat stains in memory foam mattresses. Happily enough, you will find that these techniques can be used for a foam topper or a foam pillow as well, and the more time that you are willing to look into how you are going to treat the stains, the better prepared you will be when a stain happens. Remember that when you are dealing with stains in memory foam that the faster you act, the better off you are going to be when it comes to getting the stains taken care of, so consider what you need to do.
In the first place, some stains do not need to be worried about. If you have just spilled something on your memory foam mattress, take some time to wipe it up. Memory foam does not soak up liquids immediately and if you are careful and fast, you can often just pick up the things that have dropped onto the surface. This is the easiest method to use, and in many cases, it is going to be all that you need.
If you are dealing with a more difficult mess or when you want to clean the mattress thorough, start by vacuuming the mattress with a soft brush attachment before spraying the affected area down with a mixture that is one part Woolite to two parts water. After you have let the solution soak in for half an hour, rinse it off in the tub. If the mattress is too big, take it outside and use a hose. Remember that you should only squeeze out the excess water; make sure that you do not twist the foam as this can damage it. Then spray down the mattress with a solution that is one part vinegar to four parts water. Spray it down and then rinse it again.
After this, you can press the water out as you did before, or you can use a hair dryer set to a low setting to dry it. You may also choose to allow the mattress to air dry and to use an electric fan to help in the process. Remember that you need to dry out a mattress completely before you can put it back on the bed.
If you are just looking to do a spot clean, you will realize that boric acid can take care of most things. Head to the laundry aisle in the grocery store and look for dry boric acid. Use this powder by sprinkling it on top of the stain and then blotting at the stain with a sponge. This is something that can help you remove the stains almost entirely if not make it disappear completely, so take some time and give this option a try.
If a stain looks particularly bad, you may wish to consult a professional. If you are dealing with a memory foam mattress that you purchased recently, you might be able to use the warranty to get the mattress cleaned for you.
Removing stains from your foam mattress is simple if you just keep a few things in mind!
